Detailed information about your role: 

As a Lead Software Specialist, you will work with our core product, the My+® laboratory information system. Initially, you will engage with our new cutting-edge genetics solution and develop our product’s first AI service. Another key project involves transitioning from an old pathology solution to a new one.  

Your role is crucial in the development of the comprehensive and scalable product we offer for our customers. You will have technical responsibility – and you can make a significant impact not only on Mylab’s products, but also on the rapidly evolving healthcare diagnostics industry.  

As our Lead Software Specialist, you lead the development team from a technical perspective, ensuring correct task execution. You guide the team in best practices, architecture decisions, and process improvements. You also define critical system decisions.  

The comprehensive My+® software, along with its solutions, is based on a microservices architecture running on Kubernetes. Our technology stack includes Kotlin, TypeScript, Python, C#, Java, and Intersystems IRIS technology including a programming language ObjectScript that is used in the field of medicine. PostgreSQL is primarily used as our database. You will work with both the older codebase and the modern languages including Kotlin and React. 

You will join and lead a Scrum team of four developers that include both Mylab employees and external consultants. In addition to your Scrum team, you will collaborate closely with multiple stakeholders, especially with other development teams, architects, product owners, and the system team.  

While your role is independent and responsible, you are not alone. Success is a collective effort. You will be welcomed by a skilled group of colleagues who are eager to learn and collaborate to create high-quality products. 

Are you an experienced developer with a proven ability in technical leadership? 

If so, this role might be perfect for you. To succeed in this position, you need to have a strong background in software development with at least +5 years of work experience in the field. You also need previous experience in leading the technical work in software projects. If necessary, you can also take on the responsibility of leading the development in the role of a Scrum Master. 

As an experienced developer, we expect you to have strong skills in programming with different languages and experience with different technology tools. In this role it’s most beneficial if you have worked with Kotlin, React, and TypeScript. Experience in Python is beneficial. You are familiar with Kubernetes environments and microservice architecture. It is beneficial if you have experience with Azure cloud, AI tools and development. 

It is beneficial if you have previous experience in the healthcare technology, or other highly regulated sector, however it is not a must requirement. Most important thing is interest and desire to jump into the healthcare diagnostics industry that impacts the lives of many. 

We expect you to be courageous in expressing your views and have excellent collaboration skills. You are driven to develop practices and motivated by Mylab’s vision to grow internationally.  

When working with us, fluent spoken and written proficiency in English is required. Skills in Finnish or other Nordic languages are beneficial.
